Story Time JAN 29th 2014

By Karma Wilson, illustrated by Laura Rader
The dinos from Dinos on the Go! are back. Just like us humans, the dinos are enjoying many snow activities, from building snowmen, to sledding, to having a snowball fight. This is a lively and hilarious rhyming story.

Children delight in playing in the snow, (admit it, who wouldn't). They get to build an igloo and a snowman, glide and slide around on the snow, all the while getting wet and tired. That makes coming in from outside to enjoy some hot cocoa that much more delightful.
Age Range: 3-7 yrs.  Grade Level: PRE-K-2

Literacy Extenders:

  •  Ask your child about things that make them happy?
  • Ask them what kinds of things they can do in the outdoors during the winter.
  • Go outside and build a snowman
  • Get the recipe for snow ice cream and make some!
Snow Ice Cream:
Ingredients

8 cups snow, or shaved ice

1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

Place snow or shaved ice into a large bowl. Pour condensed milk over and add vanilla.

Mix to combine. Serve immediately in bowls.

Craft: Letter S Snowman
For this craft you will need a sheet of white paper with the letter S on it, white construction paper that you can cut circles for your snowman, black construction paper to cut a top hat, and a glue stick.
  • Take your three circles and glue them on to the letter S so that you have a snowman, then take the black tophat and glue it on. After this is completed give your child crayons to finish up their snowman
