STORYTIME December 2, 2013

Bubble is a goldfish who swims round and round unhappily in his tank. Cat is his friend and wishes he could show him the world. One day, Cat has an idea to set Bubble free. But is Bubble ready to swim off into the world and leave behind his friend? A tender tale about an unlikely friendship from an award-winning picture book creator.

Kitty Cat should be getting ready for school, but instead, she's practicing her purr, looking for her socks, chasing a little mouse, and more. Will Kitty Cat make it out of the house in time for school? Adorable pastel illustrations rendered in watercolor paints and colored pencil bring Kitty Cat so close you'll want to reach out and touch her!
The author and illustrator of Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Waking Up? have donated this book to the Worldreader program

Literacy Extenders:
  • Ask your child what Kitty cat should be doing to get ready to go out
  • Make a list with your child about the things you do to get ready
  • Ask them how Lucky the Cat is a good friend to Bubbly the goldfish?
  • Ask them what they would like to see if they could go anywhere?
  • Go through the Kitty Cat book again and have your child try to find other words that rhyme with the end sentence.
Craft:
For this craft you will need a color sheet of a cat, a construction paper letter C, and a glue stick. Let your child color the cat and then give them the letter to glue on to the cat as a tail.
