STORYTIME April 22 2014

Fly along with Elecopter as she soars above the savannah, patrolling the skies with her fire-hose nose at the ready. The other animals are safe with Elecopter on the scene—Elecopter is a hero for all! Preschoolers are in for a treat in this chant-along companion to Monkey Truck.

Ellie has everything a young girl could possibly want. Now she wants an elephant, too; and she refuses to do anything until she gets one. NO! she yells at her father when he tells her to get out of bed. Ellie cries, Not until you get me an ELEPHANT! Then one day, Ellie gets her wish when an elephant arrives at the house. But when the elephant won't do what Ellie wants, she's furious. Could this elephant be exactly what she needs?

LITERACY EXTENDERS:

  • The Letter E! Work on the different sounds that the letter E makes.
  • Make a list of other words that start with the letter E
  • Go to the Zoo and see the Elephants, ask your child what part of the elephant did Elecopter use as her fire hose?
  • Talk about mechanics and how Elecopter flew. Show your child a propeller and go out in the yard to see if you can find and helicopter seeds that have fallen to the ground.
  • Go in more in depth with the second title, Elephantantrum. Ask your child why Ellie got mad and why she did not like the elephant her father had bought her.
  • Ask your child why the elephant finally left Ellie's house? Why did the elephant have to go help other children?
